I'm Here to Listen
Hello, my name is Mel Howard I'm an Intergrative Therapist. I believe that we are a product of our pasts but that does not define who we are today. With belief in our capacity to chose change I will support you to live the life you want today.
My focus is to help individuals gain understanding of their lives, thoughts & feelings in an environment that is compassionate & empowering. I believe that mind & body are linked and work to re-integrate them. All treatment plans are individual and client led, promoting choice & responsibility of ourselves.
I promise to work completely for your beneficence, at your pace in the direction that you feel is right for you. I will guide you but never impose our own personal beliefs upon you with respect to your own. I promise to work ethically, confidentially and with commitment to your needs.
Want to stay in your own surroundings or find that online services are more accessible and fit to you better?
I am continuing to offer counselling online for those that prefer.
Inside the 15th century granary barn with plenty of parking off road by the Quay is a cosy safe nook, which is the home of Opal Therapies. The therapy room is discreet, intimate and furnished in line with its rustic surroundings.
The entrance to the therapy space is up a set of 8 stairs. Unfortunatly there is not an alternative entrance.
I am currently offering face to face sessions at Mistley Quay Workshops. However I can still support you via Zoom or another platform if you prefer. https://zoom.us/
I am compassionate & caring combined with a practical realistic side. I believe in allowing clients enough time & space to find their own solutions. I believe that mind & body are linked & use both creatively to help find resolve.
I am proud to work for a charity supporting survivors of Domestic Abuse and as an Addiction Therapist at a leading residential treatment centre in Essex alongside offering support in private practice.
I hold an Fda Integrative Counselling and Level II Shodan In Reiki, a clear DBS Cert and is fully insured. I enjoy undertaking regular relevant training.
I am a Individual Member of the BACP and work within their Ethical Framework which can be found here: https://www.bacp.co.uk/events-and-resources/ethics-andstandards/ethical-framework-for-the-counselling-professions/
I can support you through whatever it is that you are experiencing including but not exclusive to: Addiction, Anxiety, Abuse, Bereavement, Childhood Trauma, Domestic Abuse, Depression, Mental Health Concerns, Self Harm, Stress Management.
You may be looking to develop more self awareness and understanding of repetitive behaviours where I will happily join you on your journey to the Self, through The Self.
I work holistically which means looking at both mind & body, which are often separated and treated individually. By looking at them together we treat the person as a whole,
reintegrating both our felt sense and thoughts to allow us to feel connected to ourselves and our surrounding environment.
All the treatment options available can be used separately or integrated within your session
Here at Opal Therapies I am forward thinking and open minded. I continually strive to offer the therapy most suited to you. Therefore I will be adding new treatment options as they become available to us & partaking in regular CPD.
I believe that everybody should be able to access support. I offer a sliding payment scale where required.
I respect your choices and accept your desire to not use any of the available treatment options.
